Ready to Pop: Eric Solomon "Antarctica"

ES_FINAL_COVER

You may remember Eric Solomon from his chart-topping remixes for Passion Pit and The xx earlier this year. While working on material for other artists, the Vancouver-based multi-instrumentalist has also been diligently working in the studio to cut tracks for his own debut artist EP, "Antarctica."

Grab a totally guilt-free MP3 of the title track that gives you a good sense for Erik's knack for producing electro-tinged pop with a distinct '80s flavor. A sound that Eric likes to label as "old sounds done new," and that have garnered comparisons to Frankmusik and Calvin Harris.

Erik comes from a unique background that gives him a unique point of view. Raised in the African Congo, he left the war-persecuted community during an embassy relief effort when he was 13 years old. While his family stayed behind, a young Eric was sent to his native homeland of Montreal, Quebec. He spent his late teen years touring and performing all over Asia and the US as a hired musician. He was signed to Epic Records a few years ago but with the reshuffling of the music industry his time as a major label artist was cut short. Now, he's going at it alone sounding better and stronger than ever.
