Watch New Zowie Video "Bite Back"

After "Broken Machine" and "Love Demolition," momentum for emerging New Zealand pop singer Zowie continues with her brand-new single "Bite Back." The song is a bareknuckle slice of alt-pop that is paced by a stomping beat, howling synths and a heavy dose of girl power that fans can sink their teeth in.

But make sure to handle her with care. "Don't attack, because you know I will bite back," she warns. That's right. You better not mess with this pixie. She has just arrived and she is planning to stick around for a while. If you missed my video interview with Zowie, make sure to watch it here to get to know her.

Video Interview: Arjan chats with Zowie

This year's CMJ Music & Film Festival was a busy affair for Zowie. After making a brief stop in the holly hills of Los Angeles, the New Zealand singer headed straight to New York to perform several shows. I caught up with Zowie right after she arrived in Los Angeles to prepare her U.S. debut show at The Viper Room before her trek to New York.

Zowie talks candidly about her love for Grace Jones, her fascination with beats and her mission to "destroy" fans with "music she really loves." And she even has her own glittery disco stick that she twirls up side down for all of you. Super fun. Watch the video, like if you love, and make sure to download some of her music totally guilt-free right here and here.

Free MP3 Download: Zowie "Broken Machine" (RAC Remix)

While in Sydney on Sunday, I received the full scoop on emerging New Zealand pop phenom Zowie who is heading statesside to perform showcases in Los Angeles (on Friday) and New York City (next week at CMJ). (Check for dates and times after the jump.)

The Auckland singer has already received a steady amount of buzz at home having performed at some of the country’s biggest festivals (Big Day Out, Rhythm And Vines) as well as performing opening sets for the likes of The Kills and Peaches. Her debut single "Broken Machine" was an instant hit on the New Zealand, rising to number 5 on the pop chart last month.

Starting out as laptop-savvy bedroom maestro, the self-made Zowie was obsessed with making beats. Big fat ones, hot vintage ones and buzzing electro ones. Give her a beat and she will put her own swing to it.

Zowie's production of stomping rhythms led to further experimentation with melodies and vocals, which resulted in an eclectic brand of DIY electro-pop that has a steady crunch to it that you'll want to sink your teeth right into. Seriously.

Check out a guilt-free download of Zowie's "Broken Machine" that was produced by my pal Andre Anjos. The remix is taken from Zowie's single EP that also includes the single edit plus the Computers Want Me remix. Grab the RAC's chunky remix now. It is beyond excellent.
