After a massively succesful 2010, this year is shaping up to be an even bigger and better one for both Dev and The Cataracs. Dev is ruling the YouTube charts with "Bass Down Low" and her producer pals of The Cataracs are gearing up to unleash some brand-new artist material.

The Cataracs are David Singer-Vine, 20 aka "Campa," and Niles Hollowell-Dhar, 19, "Cyrano." Both members share vocalist duties with Cyrano acting as the sole producer. David and Niles have developed a signature "slappin'" electro pop sound that combines the dancefloor sensibilities of electronic music with catchy pop melodies and a whole lotta East Bay swagger.

I first blogged about The Cataracs back in 2008 when I posted their "Julia" video, which already gave us a proper taste of their sonic goodness. Today is a big day for The Cataracs as they are releasing "Top Of The World," which is their official, big label debut single. The track is a slappin' dance pop banger that has all the makings of a massive hit.

Watch the video the "Top Of The World" right here. Congratulations, guys!  (Support new pop and grab The Cataracs "Top Of The World" on iTunes now.)

This brand-spanking new Dev remix sure is not for the squeamish. Aier Sauft turns the chart-topping original into slappin' dancefloor banger that will either give you a massive headache or the energy that equals a dozen shots of espresso.

Dev is one of the hottest emerging new pop artists with plenty of street cred who is up for an MTVu "Breaking Woodie" at MTVu's annual Woodie Awards that will be held at next week's South by Southwest.

Also, if you have not seen my video interview with Dev and her Cataracs production pals make sure to catch it after the break. It's pure hilarity from beginning to end. One of my favorite interviews to date.

You can tell The Soundmen had fun with their new remix of Dev's meaty party stomper "Bass Down Low." The versatile NYC/Seattle production duo adds a slamming new rhythm track and a poppy new synth groove to the song that was inspired by "a little bit of Afrojak, a pinch of Devo and some Haddaway," according to an email they wrote me. Very nice new twist on the original track. I especially like when Dev embraces her "la la la" pop in the outro of the song, starting at the 3:00 minute mark. Listen to The Soundmen's remix of Dev's "Bass Down Low" after the break.

Listen to New Dev "Killer" (Produced by The Cataracs)

Dev and production outfit The Cataracs (aka David and Niles) have been holed up in their downtown L.A. studio to cut tracks for Dev's forthcoming debut LP. Most of you will know Dev as the auto-tuned vocalist featured on Far East Movement's "Like A G6" that is flying up the charts around the world. (Yes, she is the girl who has made "blizzard" and "slizzard" sound legendary.)

In my recent video interview with Dev and The Cataracs, Niles explained that the sound of Dev as a solo artist will feature more than the slappin' bounce of "Like A G6." A new Dev track has leaked on YouTube that is a good example of that. "Killer" is a hooky pop-rock track with subtle synth stylings that shows off a different side of Dev. Promising new pop for 2011.

And on a related note, if you have not seen my video interview with Dev and The Cataracs then you must. It is one of my fave video interviews of the year. Epic! Make sure to watch it all the way to the end for all the good stuff.

Video Interview: Arjan Chats with Dev and The Cataracs

Hot and happening production outfit The Cataracs are riding a tidal wave of global chart success with their work on Far East Movement's "Like A G6."

The song features the instantly recognizable auto-tuned vocals of their muse Dev. She is currently working with the two on her forthcoming debut album that includes her new single "Bass Down Low," a blistering party anthem that easily matches the intensity of "Like A G6."

This past weekend, I caught up with the crazy fun Cataracs (aka David and Niles) and Dev in their Los Angeles studio to chat a bit more about their success and what's to come next. We chatted about the genius simplicity of "Like A G6," the "slapping bounce" of their music, their friendship with Dev, and how to score some tickets to the GRAMMYs in February.

They promised they will wear ArjanWrites.com t-shirts on the GRAMMY Red Carpet if I could get them a few tickets. Scroll to 9:00 minute mark for that hilarious bit. It's a must watch. Totally fun interview!
