Single Review: Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine "Stereo Hearts"
June 10, 2011
Gym Class Heroes may have another big summer smash on their hands with "Stereo Hearts" that first premiered with our friends at Idolator yesterday. The song features the slick and crisp falsetto of Maroon 5's Adam Levine that contrasts nicely with Travie McCoy's punchy rhymes.
This is Gym Class Heroes' first new single since McCoy's recent solo projects including his collaboration with Taio Cruz on "Higher" and his solo album "Lazarus" that was released last year. That LP sparked the massive hit single "Billionare" that ruled the charts last year around this time and introduced his pal Bruno Mars to a global audience. "Need You," one of my favorite tracks from McCoy's solo album, was released as a single as well but didn't quite catch on in a big way.
Gym Class Heroes' teaming with Adam Levine on "Stereo Hearts" was created and perfected by gifted melody maker Benny Blanco with the soundboard assistance of ROBOPOP. It's great to see that Blanco is surely but slowly stepping out of Dr Luke's mighty pop shadow and starting to showcase his own (diverse) work more prominently. Blanco recently also produced Wiz Khalifa's excellent "No Sleep" plus he's putting the final touches on Neon Hitch's debut record, which will be some dynamite "Bad Dog" material.
Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levin "Stereo Hearts" will be available on June 14.
