Single Review: Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine "Stereo Hearts"

Stereo-Hearts-cover-final

Gym Class Heroes may have another big summer smash on their hands with "Stereo Hearts" that first premiered with our friends at Idolator yesterday. The song features the slick and crisp falsetto of Maroon 5's Adam Levine that contrasts nicely with Travie McCoy's punchy rhymes.

This is Gym Class Heroes' first new single since McCoy's recent solo projects including his collaboration with Taio Cruz on "Higher" and his solo album "Lazarus" that was released last year. That LP sparked the massive hit single "Billionare" that ruled the charts last year around this time and introduced his pal Bruno Mars to a global audience. "Need You," one of my favorite tracks from McCoy's solo album, was released as a single as well but didn't quite catch on in a big way.

Gym Class Heroes' teaming with Adam Levine on "Stereo Hearts" was created and perfected by gifted melody maker Benny Blanco with the soundboard assistance of ROBOPOP. It's great to see that Blanco is surely but slowly stepping out of Dr Luke's mighty pop shadow and starting to showcase his own (diverse) work more prominently. Blanco recently also produced Wiz Khalifa's excellent "No Sleep" plus he's putting the final touches on Neon Hitch's debut record, which will be some dynamite "Bad Dog" material.

Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levin "Stereo Hearts" will be available on June 14.

Single Review: Rye Rye feat. Robyn "Never Will Be Mine"

Ryeyerobyn

The teaming of Robyn and Rye Rye on a fresh new remake of Robyn's pop classic "Be Mine" is an unlikely pairing that took some time for me to get used to. You should know that "Be Mine" is one of my favorite pop ballads of all time and I cherish it every time it hits the iPod.

Robyn packs the song with an outpouring of emotion in a manner that only she can, delivering her lyrcis with a heartfelt gusto that is truly breathtaking. "Be Mine" is quite frankly one of those songs that people should handle with great care and not toy around with.

Rising Baltimore hip pop princess Rye Rye succeeds in adding her own punchy twist to the song that neatly matches Robyn's original intensity.

While Robyn is featured in the song's chorus, Rye Rye carefully delivers her poignant rhymes that perfectly blend with Robyn's story about love and loss with lines like, "If you're having problems with the one you love and you want to feel his touch, put your hands in the air and let him know that you truly care. You don't wanna do the fight fuss, getting sick of the love pain or the lies and the trust games (...) I love you dearly, did I make that clearly?"

Rye Rye's delivery packs an equally heartfelt message that make it a proper fit for Robyn's timeless original. "Never Will Be Mine" will be included on Rye Rye's forthcoming debut album "Go! Pop! Bang!" that will be released on June 14. (Download)

Single Review: LMFAO Featuring Natalia Kills "Champagne Showers"

Artworks-000007644119-thh40p-crop

LMFAO is on fire. The group is flying up the charts everywhere with "Party Rock Anthem," grabbing the #1 spot on the pop charts from the U.K. to Australia. The song is currently a top 5 tune on iTunes in the U.S and shuffling upwards.

While "Party Rock Anthem" is still going strong, the totally fun L.A. duo of Redfoo (Stefan Gordy) and Skyblu (Skyler Gordy) is getting ready to make the party rock even harder with their new single "Champagne Showers" that features none other than Cherrytree Records label mate Natalia Kills. The track is taken from their forthcoming new LP "Sorry For Party Rocking" that will be released on June 21.

"Champagne Showers" is once again an unstoppable dance pop tune that includes LMFAO's universally-accepted trademark ingredients of party-starting lyrics, a relentless club groove and massive arena-sized chords that are instantly energizing. There's never a dull moment with LMFAO and "Champagne Showers" is solid proof of that.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the song's video in which Natalia Kills prominently appears together with Redfoo and Skyblu. Expect LMFAO and Natalia Kills to also team up and perform "Champagne Showers" together at Cherrytree London, a mighty pop alternative fest that will be held in London on June 13 and will also feature Far East Movement, Frankmusik and Colette Carr. (Head over to iTunes to pre-order LMFAO's "Champagne Showers.")
