Video Premiere: Natalia Kills "Wonderland"

Natalia Kills has had quite a weekend. Not only did she release her debut album "Perfectionist" in Germany, the singer also debuted the video for her new single "Wonderland" on Friday. And on top of all that she also appeared on live German television on Saturday to perform "Mirrors" for millions of viewers.

It has taken me a few days to fully wrap my thoughts around Kills' "Wonderland" video. It is a provocative piece of art that is drenched in metaphores and double meanings that does a superb job intensifying the meaning of the song.

Natalia Kills' catchy yet provoking brand of pop presents a strong point of view that she consistently pulls through in everything she does - from her photography to her live shows, and from her music videos to her fashion.

The video for "Wonderland" perfectly visualizes the themes that drive much of Natalia Kills' music. The video takes us to a place of rigor, submission and authoritarian control, which are a reflection of the struggle and frustration that come along with the pursuit of perfection that is the guiding theme for Kills' music and aesthetic.

But even in the dark and twisted world portrayed in the video, Kills' ultimate message is that you cannot give up on what you believe in and what you're chasing after. "I don't believe in fairytales, but I believe in you and me," she sings, combining a heavy dose of realism with a sense of hope and encouragement.

Watch Far East Movement feat Natalia Kills "2 Is Better"

Far East Movement shot a very special video with their Cherrytree Records label mate Natalia Kills for "2 Is Better," a bonus track that is featured on the international iTunes version of their debut album "Free Wired."

Watch the video on the homepage of

Shot in downtown Los Angeles, the video is a family affair featuring a bunch of other Cherrytree Records artists and their friends, including Frankmusik, Colette Car, Ya Boy, producers The Stereotypes and director Guillame. Cherrytree Records chief Martin "Cherry Cherry Boom Boom" Kierszenbaum makes a cameo in the video as well.

Fun video for a peppy track that shows that Cherrytree Records is not just any record label, but a fun, focused and "free wired" family of friends who all share a passion for forward pop music. (And I'm excited to share my passion for fresh new pop as part of the forthcoming Cherrytree Pop Chop web series, a co-production between and Cherrytree Records. Here's a little preview. More about Pop Chop very soon.)

Watch Natalia Kills "Mirrors" (Live at The Cherrytree House)

Check out this incredibly gorgeous acoustic version of "Mirrors" that Natalia Kills recently performed at The Cherrytree House, aka the comfy offices of Cherrytree Records that earlier hosted equally stunning and memorable performances by Robyn and Lady Gaga. (Make sure to watch it at the higher "480p" quality in the YouTube player.)

Supported by Martin "Cherry Cherry Boom Boom" Kierszenbaum on the piano, Natalia proves that she is not some sort of studio concoction but has the vocal chops that will convince any nay-sayer still left out there that she's the real deal. This is pure talent. This is how it is done. Watch the performance and then watch my recent video interview with Natalia to get to know her a little better.

Watch Natalia Kills "Activate My Heart"

There's a mesmerizing quality about everything Natalia Kills does. She's slightly mysterious, slightly dark and her artistic vision is a lot more complex than the radio-friendly tone of her music may led you to believe. In her endless pursuit of perfection, she encounters disappointment, heartache, hope and fear but also inspiration.

"Activate My Heart" is a good example of that. Natalia Kills enters the matrix on a mission to find love. Her story about intense human desire contrasts with lyrics about megabytes, sim cards and hard drives. But the singer is anything but a robot. Her emotion shines through on this song that neatly spotlight her vocals without any big effects and distractions.

(I highly recommend my video interview with Natalia in which she talks a lot more about the vision and mission that drives her music. Plus, you will get to meet her little dog. Very cute.)
