Watch New Hurts Video for "Stay"

Hurts-stay

The lads from Hurts are on a roll. Currently touring across Europe, Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson have been stirring up a storm with their debut album "Happiness." Critics are taking note, fans are raving and Italian fashion designers are eager to work with them.

Their new single "Stay" is perfect for the season and comes along with an impeccably styled video. One of the things Hurts does very, very well is to organize their music, styling, videos and live show around one single idea and pull it through in everything they do. They are savvy brand marketers who package doom and gloom in a way that stands out. Watch the video after the jump.

Listen to Kylie Minogue "Wonderful Life" (Hurts Cover)

Kylie-wonderful-life

This is immaculate and incredibly moving.

Kylie Minogue visited BBC's Radio One's Live Lounge yesterday to perform a few acoustic versions of songs from her new album. She also performed a cover of Hurts' stunning "Wonderful Life," backed by a small orchestra that upped the emotional intensity of the song. It was a way for Kylie to return the favor after Hurts previously covered "Confide In Me" (consider it a sequel).

Kylie's delicate and pristine vocals fit this track so perfectly. What a great choice of song. And quite frankly, with all the news about gay teenage suicides on the rise in America and Dan Savage's It Gets Better campaign gaining momentum on YouTube, hearing the gay-loving pop princess utter the words "Don't give up. It is a wonderful life," hit me even harder emotionally. (Donate to the important Trevor Project if you can. Their work saves lives.)

Video Interview: Arjan Chats with Hurts

British synth-pop duo Hurts is one of the most exciting pop things to happen this year. Combining an impeccable stylish performance with grand synth-driven melodies, the group of Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson have just released their debut album, titled "Hapiness." (If you're in Europe click to purchase "Happiness" in The Netherlands or the U.K. on iTunes.)

The group recently made a quick stop in Amsterdam to do some promotions for the album. I caught up with Adam and Theo to chat about everything Hurts. (Unfortunately, we had didn't have the greatest Transatlantic connection which affected the video and audio quality, but that didn't spoil our fun whatsoever.)

It really gets good in the second half of the video. After getting some scoop on their music, the ice was broken and we chatted about the famous Hurts comb, gin, rose petals, fashion, the gay community,  and their love for Prince, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga. And yes, they are not so serious as their imagery may have led you to believe. I got a few good laughs out of them.

(Thank you Adam and Theo for such a fun chat. Also, thanks to the amazing Sandra, Gwynne and Tom for making it happen.)

Hurts Covers Kylie Minogue "Confide In Me"

In anticipation of their duet with Kylie Minogue on their forthcoming debut album, British synth-pop duo Hurts covers the pop princess' "Confide In Me." Grand, mesmerizing and epic. Simply brilliant. Can't wait to hear what new song these two acts cooked up together. The buzz is massive.

Free MP3 Download: Hurts "Wonderful Life" (Mantronix Remix)

Grab a totally guilt-free MP3 of Matronix's excellent remix of Hurts' "Wonderful Life." The Scottish DJ/producer does a fine job of maintaining the moody hues of the original while infusing it with a downbeat rhythm to give it a bit of a dancefloor edge. Very good. Highly recommended.
