Hot New Talent Alert: Brandyn Burnette

In an era where lots of glittery, bombastic productions rule the pop charts, there's nothing more compelling than songs with a simple, powerful melody, relatable lyrics and a heartfelt delivery. The success of modern-day troubadours like Bruno Mars and Jason Mraz is proof of that.

Promising newcomer Brandyn Burnette brings exactly those timeless qualities to his music, serving up substantial pop that comes straight from the heart. Born in Boca Raton, Florida, Brandyn grew up surrounded by music. His father is Capitol Records R&B artist O'Bryan who had success on the Billboard charts in the '80s with songs like "The Gigolo." Brandyn grew up listening to his father's music, which inspired him to learn how to play the piano and try his hand at "bridging soul and pop music."

Over the past few years, the crooner has been writing songs and sharing his music on YouTube. To pursue a professional career in music, he moved to New York City to attend NYU and start playing gigs. His music and performance was noted by industry execs (including Kara DioGuardi), which led to a coveted publising partnership with Sony/ATV. Brandyn is currently writing and recording demo tracks, laying the groundwork for a formal album release.

There's a lot of great talent vying for the big time, but Brandyn's music has a spark that makes him stand out from the pack. He is a striking new talent to keep your eye on in the next few months. Listen to two demo tracks after the jump, "Open Up" and the ballad "Is This Love."

Fraiche New Talent Alert: Elouise

Inspired by Diana Ross & The Supremes and Dusty Springfield, British newcomer Elouise brings back a catchy, '60s pop sound comparable to recent tunes put out by Duffy, Adele and Amy Winehouse.

But in comparison to those three retro singers, Elouise is a whole lot more fun and cute, taking her '60s act to a whole new level of fabulosity. London is abuzz about this fraiche new talent who will be one of the headliners at London Gay Pride this year. Listen to the irresistibly catchy "Since You've Been Gone" that shows off Elouise's potential in full glory. Totally delish.

Fraiche New Talent Alert: MPHO

MPHO is one of the most exciting new talents to keep your eye on this year.  She's a genre-busting singer, songwriter and producer who has enormous global crossover pop potential.  Her debut single on Parlophone/Wall of Sound, "Box N Locks," is produced by acclaimed maestro Switch and samples the legendary guitar hook from the Martha and the Muffins new wave hit "Echo Beach." Yummy. So delicious.

The singer was born in South Africa and raised in a racially mixed family of musicians and political activists in the UK. Suffice to say that her life story is as colourful as her music. A press release describes that the "overriding theme of both has been MPHO's determination to find her own space, to define herself on her own terms."

Het debut single "MPHO" is shaping up to be one of the biggest break out tracks of the year. The song will be released in Europe on July 13. The remix package for the track features mixes by Armand Van Helden, Ocelot and Crazy Couzins.

The single release will be followed by her debut album, titled "Pop Art," which will be out in the fall. Co-produced and co-written by MPHO, the album features a whole host of contemporary producers and writers from Switch (MIA, Santogold),  and Future Cut (Dizzee Rascal, Kate Nash, Lily Allen) to Rick Nowels (Belinda Carlisle, Andre 3000) and Rob Davis (Kylie). No U.S. release has been set at this time.

Fraiche New Talent Alert: Luigi Masi

Luigi Masi is a fraiche new talent to keep your eye on.

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the 18 year-old son of a half-Italian/half-Brazilian father and half-Danish/half-Swedish mother has London abuzz with his infectious debut single, "Armed With Love." The song will be formally released on May 25 through the newly formed indie label, Bunx Records.

"Armed With Love" is taken from his debut album "Save His Shoes," which features collaborations with platinum hitmakers Jim Beanz (Nelly Furtado, Britney Spears), Quiz & Larossi (The Saturdays, Pussycat Dolls) and Jonas Jeberg & Cutfather (Kylie, Jordin Sparks). Luigi has already supported both Girls Aloud and Sugababes on tour, using these experiences to hone his pop skills.

“I always wanted my first album to be really upbeat - I didn’t want to drag it down with slow boring stuff or anything too personal,” the pop singer explains in a press release. “There’s maybe one song you could call midtempo - but even that you can dance to! There was a pop revival last year with people like the Saturdays and Alphabeat, but this year’s going to be even better. Not just because it’s got me, because pop’s coming back as a whole. So out with all those boring indie bands and in with pop!”

Hot New Talent Alert: Reni Lane

Reni Lane is hot new talent you should know about. The 21 year-old Columbia University student is turning heads with her propulsive, athemic pop-rock. Hollywood is taking notice as well. Her new single, "Place for Us" was recently featured on the popular drama show The L Word. The song is taken from the singer's forthcoming debut "Ready" that will be released this summer.

The tall and radiant singer was first noticed by an icon at a Verve concert. Wanting to soak up the magnificence that is The Verve from center stage, Reni bypassed her seat and cozied up into the front row. Turns out the seat belongs to Mick Rock, who, upon seeing Reni, had a quick jolt of deja vu. Reni reminded him of a young David Bowie on the Ziggy Stardust tour. The two immediately hit it off and Mick offered to photograph, which got things started for Reni.
