It's futuristic. It's disco. It's electro. It's Norwegian. It's Annie's new single "Anthonio." Very good from what I can make of this clip. Sure sounds like a lush French electro-production doesn't it?
After some initial scheduling hiccups, I spoke with Dragonette's sassy front woman Martina Sorbora last month. I put together some exclusive bonus audio clips for ArjanWrites.com readers taken from the interview with the singer (who is married to Dragonette's Dan Kurtz and the daughter of a famed Canadian politician).
Sorbora talks about are her songwriting inspirations and why she was "scandalized" by Beyoncé. She also explains why the group wore military outfits at London's Gay Pride, why she doesn't think Dragonette is very '80s and she shares how their popular cover of Calvin Harris' "The Girls" came about. Lastly, she comments on her fear that Dragonette's strong visual aesthetic might overshadow the music's substance in the perception of critics.
Head over to HMV Canada or HMV UK to order a "3D day-glo CD version" of "Galore," or download the album from 7Digital in WMA format. No U.S. release date has been scheduled at this time.
More of my interview with Martina at Bravo TV soon.
Listen to some exclusive audio clips from my interview with Just Jack. The British pop artist talks about his relationship with with Elton John and attenting the star-studded wedding of the Elton John and David Furnish.
Jack also gives some clues about he approaches his songwriting and what his expects from the the release of his new album "Overtones" in the U.S.. (And you can hear me in action. The accent is Dutch in case you were wondering.)
Listen to a few audio fragments of my exclusive interview with Just
Jack about his recent collaboration with Kylie Minogue. Jack
re-recorded the track "I Talk Too Much" together with Kylie Minogue for the U.S. release of his album "Overtones."
Jack talks candidly about how the collaboration with the pop
princess came about, what happened when he spoke to Kylie on the phone
for the first time and standing around in the studio waiting for her to
show up to record.
If you're curious to hear their duet, you can listen to "I Talk Too Much" on Just Jack's MySpace page. "Overtones" will be out in the U.S. on September 4. (Click here to order the album on Amazon.com.)
(I had fun compiling the interview audio bits into this video format. Expect more of that in the future. Hope you like it.)
