The Dutch sure know how to crank out a proper dance tune. Following in the footsteps of dancefloor heavyweights like Tiesto, Armin van Buuren and Afrojack, there's a whole new generation of Dutch turntable heroes emerging that includes people like Sidney Samson, R3hab, Quintino, Alvaro, Hardwell and London-based Patrick Hagenaar. All of these Netherlands newcomers are making serious noise on the global dance scene with their savvy pop-edged productions, remix work and blistering live shows.
Patrick Hagenaar just served up the hot and happening new dance-pop stomper "You Got Me (Glowing In The Dark)" that without a doubt will fire up dancefloors on both sides of the Atlantic. Featuring the finely-tuned vocals of Marky Hartley, it an uplifting song that is ruled by a massive pop hook and infused with a soaring house groove that will have you tapping along the moment the needle hits. It's tune that fits right alongside Calvin Harris' latest work. "Just close your eyes and feel the music," Hartley sings. "Just step into the light, you will be feeling all right. You got me glowing in the dark."
Born in Haarlem just to the west of Amsterdam, Hagenaar spreads his Dutch dancefloor cheer with proper gusto. He is often seen wearing neon-colored t-shirts at his live gigs with big, bold lettering that confidently state, "If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much." It's a truth to live by and Hagenaar has done so very successfully. He is slowly but surely rising on the scene with his work on official remixes for Ke$ha and Wynter Gordon that have been a favorite spin by DJs like David Guetta and Axwell. He is (quite literally) a bright new talent to keep your eye on. (Patrick Hagenaar feat. Marky Hartley "You Got Me (Glowing in The Dark)" will be released on Hed Kandi Records later this year.
