May 09, 2012
Lovers of high-grade Swedish dance pop are going to be in for a real treat today. You may remember that I first alerted you about Swedish duo Smith & Thell a year ago when I blogged their incredible pop ditty "Man Of Your Kind." Since then, the duo of Mary Jane Smith and Victor Alexander Thell have continued to write new songs and finetune their ferociously catchy pop sound that they're about to unleash upon the world in a mighty big way.
Smith & Thell stays true to Sweden's long-standing tradition of producing quality pop by meshing up all of the key ingredients that make Swedish pop so memorable. They start out with an instantly soaring melody, then stir it with a pulsing club groove, add a small dose of melancholy and flavor it with slick, candy-coated vocals to serve up a chunky brew that is totally infectious and, quite frankly, too irresistible to be denied.
Mary Jane and Victor Alexander released their debut single "Kill It With Love" worldwide earlier via Uniform Beat earlier this week that is starting to gain some serious buzz and momentum on iTunes with radio in Europe showing interest as well. In fact, right after it was released, "Kill It With Love" topped Sweden's iTunes' Electronic Chart for three days in a row.
The single release is getting a steady push with the unveiling of the group's very first music video that puts the duo front and center. Set in a basement filled with computer servers that are lit by colorful strobelights, Mary Jane teases the camera while Victor Alexander is his calm and collected self. It's a fantastically effective debut video by a very promising new group. Do yourself a big favor, support new pop and download Smith & Thell "Kill It With Love" on iTunes now.
