GRAMMY Guide: Robyn Talks About "Call Your Girlfriend" Video

Today is a good day to re-post Robyn's video for "Call Your Girlfriend." Not just because the song is up for a GRAMMY, but also because it is incredible and captures everything that is so amazing about our favorite Swedish pop pixie. "Call Your Girlfriend" is up for a GRAMMY Award in the Best Dance Recording category at tomorrow's GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles.

The nomination is Robyn's third. She was previously nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Dance Recording for "Dancing On My Own." So with luck on her side, three's a charm and with so much love from her peers I think she makes a very good chance at grabbing GRAMMY gold. (Another theory is that with so much talent in the category, the GRAMMY vote may be split, which will help Robyn to emerge as the dark horse.)

The video for "Call Your Girlfriend" beautifully and poignantly amplifies the incredible pop sentiment of the song and it is sure is one of the best videos of 2011. When I met Robyn last year right after this video premiered, she explained that it was filmed in one take and that the footage that made the final cut was actually the very last shot of the day.

Robyn tells me, "It was getting dark and we had the hurry up getting the video done. We almost ran out of time and we filmed it one last time, and that's the cut we decided to use for the video." The result is just perfect. I may be running into Robyn at the Pre-Telecast GRAMMY event tomorrow so stay tuned for details on Twitter.
