After we first heard the brand-spanking new Killers' holiday single "The Cowboy's Christmas Ball" on Tuesday, Island Records unleashed the video for the charity single earlier today. The song is taken from a special EP that was released yesterday and benefits the (RED) Campaign in support of the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Set in the Southwest desert, the fun and quirky mini flick takes some cues from Cowboys & Aliens with three outlaws taking aim at a small village's Christmas cheer before turning their pistols to two alien robots who were beamed to earth. But worry not. The Killers come to the rescue, and in the spirit of Christmas, embrace their new extraterrestrial friends and take them on a special night on the town. (Make sure to watch the robot do the robo-dance, which is priceless.)
Like I previously reported, "The Cowboy's Christmas Ball" is a remake of Michael Martin Murphy's 1991 original that the Vegas four have updated with some new lyrics to reflect their Nevada roots. Great to see the The Killers back in action that has me anxious for more of that soon.
