With the help of producer Mark Ronson and director Jonas Akerlund, the video for Duran Duran's new single "Girl Panic!" does a superb job reigniting the band's original glory both musically and visually.
Taking stylistic cues from their exuberant and eccentric '80s hey days, this genuinely fabulous and shamelessly indulgent new video is a dazzling piece of work that encompasses every ounce of trademark Duran Duran humour and glamour.
Matching style with substance, the video for "Girl Panic!" reunites Duran Duran with five of the world’s top supermodels - Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon in a day-in-the-life-of exposé. Dressed in gorgeous Edward Sexton suits, the girls take on the roles of the members of the band and the guys are in the supporting cast as bellhops, waiters, chauffeurs and members of the press.
The short film is also the backdrop for the December cover of Harper's Bazaar that features the five "supers" on the set of the video shoot.
The video, shot in and around The Savoy in London over two days earlier this summer, was produced by Black Dog Films and made in association with Swarovski Elements. The world-famous crystals were incorporated not only into the fashion and jewelry, but also in the sparkling interior objects and furniture. ("Girl Panic!" is taken from Duran Duran's fantastic new LP "All You Need Is Now.")
