Janelle Monae has teamed with the guys of power pop trio Fun. for a special acoustic version of their duet "We Are Young." It's a beautifully performed slice of alt-pop balladry that is all about letting go and living in the moment. "We are young so let's set the world on fire. We can burn brighter than the sun," the group's Nate Ruess and the infinitely flawless Monea beautifully harmonize in the song's chorus.
The studio recording of "We Are Young" is taken from the group's new LP, titled "Some Night," that will be in stores on February 21. The record was produced by acclaimed producer Jeff Bhasker who most recently worked on "Watch The Throne” and other Kanye West tracks.
Fun. is not all new to the scene though. The group began in 2008 when Nate Ruess teamed up with Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff to meld an array of diverse inspirations into their own irresistible and freewheeling pop songcraft. The band drew instant attention for their contemporary rethinking of classic '70s pop, where ornate arrangements and inspired orchestrations meet present-day rock ‘n’ roll that is prominently featured on their new LP. "Some Night" will be released on Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic Records.
