[VIDEO] Neon Hitch "Donald Trump" (Mac Miller Cover)
August 17, 2011
In a time of doom and gloom, it is good to have people taking a step back and putting things in proper perspective. Emerging pop phenom Neon Hitch does exactly that in the video for her cover of Mac Miller's bling-bling tune "Donald Trump." The song makes a powerful statement about the unbridled ambition to rise to the top and live a life of abundance with no questions asked.
Neon Hitch takes it a few steps further and argues that what goes up must come down. Set in a Wall Street boardroom with quarreling men, Hitch is pulling the strings as a high-powered business tycoon.
The song and video explicitely address the excess and madness that can come along with power and wealth as people around the table slowly but surely loose it when things go sour. All they need is a creamy dose of realism and a sleek, pulsing pop groove to snap out of it.
Neon purrs and pouts, "We gonna take over the world while these haters gettin' mad (. . .) See this crazy life I have and they're in awe. We're going to win, you can take the lose or draw." Powerful words with an impressive new cover video that follows her equally inspired cover of Wiz Khalifa's "On My Level."
It proves once again that Hitch knows how to match style with substance, but also blends attitude with artistry in a way that is truly compelling. Watch the video after the break and make sure to download her new "Bad Dog" single EP.
