HBO's music supervisors chose Karen Elson's 2010 cover of Donovan's classic "Season Of The Witch" as the lead tune on the most recent episode of their popular series True Blood. It's another haunting, and yes, slightly unsettling tune that perfectly fits the supernatural twists and turns of this season's story lines.
Also featured on Episode 3 were tracks by Boxing Ghandis ("If You Love Me, Why Am I Dying"), Ohio Sound Machine ("Montgomery Moonlight"), Michelle Malone ("Restraining Order Blues") and Astrid Gilberto ("Who Needs Forever"). All very appropriate titled songs for True Blood. (Make sure to subscribe to my Rdio playlist to get all the latest True Blood music.)
Karen Elson's feature on True Blood puts a nice spotlight on her striking talent. She is a successful model who is married to Jack White and has been featured on the covers of Vogue, W, Marie Claire, Elle and Nylon. She released her debut LP "The Ghost Who Walks" last year that is filled with eclectic, bluesy pop that summons up a dark yet seductive atmosphere, an after-midnight world that's irresistibly alluring.
