It's hard to believe that it has been over 25 years ago that Madonna's Desperately Seeking Susan hit movie theaters. Remember those baggy mesh singlets, over the top jewelry and the pumping beats of "Into The Groove"?
So fun.
Brooklyn pop production duo Purple Crush takes cues from the 1985 movie in the video for "New York City Bad Girl," which showcases their own artist sound after their underground production work for people like Rob Fusari and Cathy Dennis."'New York City Bad Girl' a character I've been developing since I first laid eyes on Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan," singer Isla writes me.
She adds, "I moved to New York at the age of nineteen to pursue a career in dance and I was immediately drawn into the depths of the Brooklyn club world. To me a New York City bad girl doesn't stop until she gets what she wants, she's been beaten down by the city time and time again and yet she always comes back for more."
And that's exactly what Purple Crush wants to achieve with their music. They put out fun, flirty pop with an unstoppable and bold attitude that will have fans eager for more. (Check out their excellent remix of Far East Movement's "Rocketeer" here while you download the MP3 below.)
