Promising Norwegian pop trio Blackroom has been dilligently writing and recording new material for a future new album as an indie outfit after splitting from Columbia Records last year. After changing their name from Loraine to Blackroom, the group of Ole Gunnar Gundersen (vocals), Anders Winsents (guitar) and Pal Myran Haaland (keyboards, programming) have not strayed too far from the stark, atmospheric electronica that marked the sound on their first album.
Several new tracks have surfaced over the last few months that give us a taste of what they been up to. The latest track the trio has unveiled is titled "XTC" and was produced by fellow Norwegian Ralph Myerz. It is a beautifully-crafted mid-tempo pop tune that is dominated by a rowling guitar riff, subtle synth flourishes and Gunnar Gundersen's glacial vocals. Highly recommended. Listen to it after the break.
