After bringing us artists like Lady Gaga, La Roux and Robyn, Cherrytree Records' mega maestro Martin "Cherry Cherry Boom Boom" Kierzenbaum, is now introducing the masses to Far East Movement. The Los Angeles hip hop pop electro dance outfit is flying up the charts with "Like a G6" that is taken from their new LP, titled "Free Wired," which will be out in a (download) store near you on October 12.
The album features an impressive list of writers, producers and collaborators, including Frankmusik (who sings along as Vince Frank on the very good "Fighting For Air"), Bruno Mars, Keri Hilson, Natalia Kills, One Republic's Ryan Tedder and Snoop Dogg.
"Free Wired" not only serves up a hot and happening mash of music, it also expresses the group's vision that it's a free wired world where music and artists are cut loose from any particular genre.
This weekend, I caught up with the savvy, spiffy and shade-rocking Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif and DJ Virman of Far East Movement in their tour bus. We chatted about their genre-mashing sound, touring with Robyn and the importance of Martin Kierschenbaum in tuning their sound. But before all that, we started our chat with a little tour of their bus and the exact nutrition it takes to keep them in shape while on the road.
