Free MP3 Download: Sunday Girl "Self Control" (Friends Electric Remix)
August 12, 2010
Electro-pop outfit Friends Electric turns on the rave on their remix for Sunday Girl's "Self Control." It is another wickedly accomplished remake that follows their equally compelling revamp of Ellie Goulding's "The Writer."
Sunday Girl is the artist name of 21-year old British up and comer Jade Williams who is signed to Island/Geffen Records in the U.K. last year and been working on her debut album together with Jim Elliott (Kylie, Ladyhawke). She thanks her name to forgetful customers of the pet shop she worked in every Sunday as a 14 year-old. "No one ever knew what I was called; they just used to call me 'Sunday Girl' and that sort of stuck," she explains in a press release.
As I wrote before, her record promises to be a compelling mix of alt-pop electronica that is introduced by her cover of '80s italo disco classic "Self Control" made famous by Laura Branigan. Sunday Girl gives the song a angsty twist of her own with its mesmerizing, almost eerie, electronic soundscape and squelchy acid noises. "Self Control" is out in the U.K. (Support new pop and download the single track now.)
