Long Island, NY rapper Hoodie Allen is loving himself some Marina & The Diamonds and decided to turn her debut LP "The Family Jewels" into a mixtape of his own. On his forthcoming "The Diamond Cuts" mini mixtape, he samples bits and pieces from the singer's debut album. Pretty cool stuff.
The first track taken from this mixtape is his Allen's hip pop rework of Marina's pristine "I'm Not A Robot" that he has turned into a bass-heavy hip pop summertime jam, spitting out some of his life lessons. "I have juxtaposed new school indie pop sampling with the punchy lyricism of hip hop," Hoodie Allen writes me. And that's exactly what it is. Good music inspires.
