Listen to Goldfrapp "Rocket"

Can we have a big, fat "wow!" please?

What a fresh and unexpected new Goldfrapp sound. After the disco stomp of "Supernature" and the introverted "Seventh Three," this new Goldfrapp tune sounds unlike like anything the duo has done before. Just how they like it, and just how their fans love them.

The mid-tempo "Rocket" reminds me of early '80s American synth-driven singer/songwiter pop. Very smooth and incredibly catchy. I'm not making a direct comparison but I totally get a Journey, Christopher Cross vibe from this. Delicious!

This year may finally be the year for Goldfrapp. And if Roisin Murphy could have an equally successful year then we can all say that 2010 was pretty darn great for crunchy electro-pop and sleep a little better at night.

What do you think of this new Goldfrapp tune? Share your thoughts!

I totally LOVE IT. And yes, 2010 is going to be a GREAT year for electropop. Róisín, Goldfrapp, Christina Aguilera with Goldfrapp... And also Kylie and Scissor Sisters working with Stuart Price...

It's a great track, almost combining the faster Supernature and the solemness of Seventh Tree. Also, listen to Beautiful by Goldfrapp, it has the mid-tempo, and actually sound rather similar.

Allison is channeling leg-warmers, Olivia Newton-John & Xanadu. I LOVE GOLDFRAPP

hmmmm not entirely sold on it yet————can't wait to hear it in the context of the album...

I don't know why so many people bashed 7th Tree- it was good. But Supernature is a 5 star album through and through...Rocket doesn't really seem to touch that...yet. lets wait and see!

I think the response overall has been positive for this track. Some feel the '80s are done, but I'm ready for more!

Hmm, people seem to be really into this track. I love Goldfrapp, but I'm not feeling this. Maybe it will grow on me?
