After Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Adele and Duffy, Alice Russell may well be the next big British soul voice to break out stateside this year. Listening to Alice's music (and her incredible powerful voice), you’d be inclined to think she grew up on the streets of Detroit during the heydays of Motown, but surprisingly enough the blue-eyed, blonde-haired singer hails from the pebbled shores of Brighton, England.

Inspired by artists like Minnie Ripperton, Eva Cassidy, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin and Jill Scott, Alice has garnered a reputation in the U.K. as one of the hottest soul singers. She has collaborated with a wide-range of artists who have helped her tune her craft, including Roy Ayres, The Roots, Lonnie Liston Smith, De La Soul, Quantic and The Quantic Soul Orchestra to name a few.

Check out a totally guilt-free download of "Got The Hunger" that shows off Russell's impressive vocal chops. She sure has the soul. Look out for the U.S. release of her new album "Pot Of Gold" on iTunes now.
