Free Download: Lukas Kaiser "The LoLtape"

Check out a hot, hot, hot little mixtape by the very talented Lukas Kaiser who put together some of his own instrumental tracks to share with the world. The mixtape is a collection of mid-tempo tracks that can best be described as a freewheeling blend of punchy electro with contemporary hip hop textures. It's super fresh.

My favorite tracks include the instantly catchy "Yes, Computer" (love the chorus), the groovy  "Kung Fu Alley,"  the pulsing "Fat" and the glistening "Bone" that features some delicious synth licks. Love how that last track breaks down into the chorus.

Kaiser, who is good friends with D.A. of Chester French, has been composing music for TV and film, including work for the Chapelle Show, several MTV reality shows and the John Waters' film, This Filthy World. He is currently also co-producing the debut album from Harvard rapper Sliggitay and working with a new reggae artist, named Mr. Lee G.

I love this stuff, Mr. Kaiser. Bring us more of this.

Free Download: Indie.Arie ft. Musiq Soulchild "Chocolate High"

India.Arie has one of the most gorgeous R&B voices in the business. Check out a totally guilt-free download of her new single, titled "Chocolate High," which is a soulful duet with Musiq Soulchild.

The song is taken from Arie's new album "Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics" that will be released on February 10. "Chocolote High" is a great, lazy morning tune. Full of flavor.

The song is good representation of the new album that features a much more content Indie.Arie. Her previous disc chronicled a painful break up and it's aftermath. "I really needed to take care of myself," she tells Reuters. "Everything was out of order. I was emotionally unwell and also tired of the challenge of fitting into someone else's paradigm of a black artist."

"I stepped into the next phase of my evolution; a healthier place where I need to do what I want to do," she concludes. You gotta respect Arie for staying true to herself, her fans and her music, whether it is commercially viable or not.

Watch Colin Munroe ft. Wale "Will I Stay" (Rehearsal Footage)

Check out a very cool video of Colin Munroe rehearsing "Will I Stay," one of the the lead tracks on his "Colin Munroe Is The Unsung Hero" mixtape.

Following a sold-out December show at New York City’s Highline Ballroom opening for Wale and Kid Cudi, Colin Munroe stopped by Chung King Studios to record live cuts from his mixtape Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero. This video footage features Colin alongside D.C.-based rapper Wale performing “Will I Stay (Remix).” Colin jumps between keys and drums as Wale brings his lyrical prowess to the table.

Look out for my video interview with Colin Munroe very soon.
