Bubbles & Cheesecake is something to get very excited about.
The duo of Allee Willis and Holly Palmer makes music that is described as "soul kitsch" that is explained as a fusion of "hard-hitting soul and catchy pop hooks."
I'd like to call it just plain delicious.
Willis and Palmer are no strangers to the music industry. Allee Willis is a Grammy and Tony winning songwriter who wrote Earth, Wind and Fire’s classics "September" and "Boogie Wonderland." She is also responsible for "What Have I Done To Deserve This," the duet between the Pet Shop Boys and Dusty Springfield. She also penned the musical version of "The Color Purple" in 2005.
Holly Palmer has been a solo singer, but gained notoriety among insiders with her back-up vocals for David Bowie and Gnarls Barkley. Earlier this year, she released her soulful-pop album "Songs For Tuesday."
Willis and Palmer plan to take Bubbles & Cheesecake far beyond their musical partnering. According to their online biography, the Bubbles & Cheesecake initiative is "an integrated music, art, multi-media technology, shopping and lifestyle experience." Bubblesandcheesecake.com will become a portal where people will be able discover sounds, images, writings, social networking and products, all handmade by Bubbles & Cheesecake.
