Ouch. My alarm clock went off terribly early this morning. At 3:50 a.m. to be exact. Jay-Z is in town making a stop on his "Hangar Tour," performing 30-minute sets in 7 cities in less than 24 hours to promote his new album. Jigga's promo blitz kicked off in Atlanta very early this morning. From the ATL, he travels to New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas today.
As part of a very unique promotion 2 lucky winners in each city will get a chance to join Jay's entourage and continue the "Hangar Tour" journey on his private jet. Fun! But darn it, I missed out.
I am by no means an expert in hip-hop. In fact, very often I have trouble understanding the lyrics and street lingo of songs. But I do appreciate a punchy beat, a passionate delivery and some straight-up attitude. And Jay-Z delivered it this morning during his very brief appearance. He performed some old and new tracks, including "I Just Wanna Love U," "Big Pimpin'" and "Show Me What You Got" (his new single).
What was most fun, however, was that Jay experienced the complete insanity of a hip hop concert at 5:30 in the morning together with the crowd. He looked at his watch several times, saying "I appreciate you all came out, but you are all crazy! I am crazy! I need some coffee!"
I shot a few photos that I posted on Flickr. I'm gonna catch up on some sleep now. Peace!
(Update: I got pinked, y'all!)
