I wrote last week about my love for French pop and this week I have a whole new crush to tell you about. Her name is Camille and she creates tunes that are quirky, fun, sweet and yet so simple at the same time. Camille is already a pop sensation in her native France but some of you might know her from the vocal work she did last year with neo bossa-nova outfit Nouvelle Vague. Her most recent album is called "Le Fil" that prominently features her distinct way of making music. Just like Imogen Heap, she multi-tracks her vocals and layers it with sparse instrumentation, quicky choruses and playful, rythmic elements like handclaps. "Le Fil" is released in the U.S. by Narada record and available for immediate download on iTunes. Highly recommended. (Thanks for the heads up to my friends at Temposhark who are currently remixing "Ta Douleur.")
