Free Download: Asobi Seksu "Strawberries" (CWL Remix)
October 05, 2006
Madonna is turned on by Japanese pop aesthetics in her new video for "Jump," but Asobi Seksu has been inspired by it for years. The New York City based rock group incorporates many hooky pop elements in their music to create an energizing, candy-colored sonic landscape. Part of the band's pop appeal is charismatic Japanese singer Yuki Chikudate who often includes Japanese lyrics in the band's music. Asobi Seksu (colloquial Japanse for "playful sex") recently released their sophomore album "Citrus." Lead single from that record is another fruity pleasure called "Strawberries." It was remixed by producer Cassettes Won't Listen who turned it into an atmospheric electronica piece that fit Yuki's delicate vocals very well.
