Free Download: Van She "Kelly"
August 10, 2006
I alerted you earlier about Van She, a fantastic new Australian band signed to Modular Records. The label will be releasing their self-titled EP next Tuesday that will formally introduce the group to pop-loving America. Lead single "Kelly" is a brilliant slice of pop with a hooky chorus and a distinct retro styling that gives it a very '80s feel without being too gimmicky. One of you earlier compared the track to "Somebody's Baby" by Jackson Browne, which is spot on.
The handsome quartet of Nick Routledge (vocals, guitar), Matt Van Schie (bass), Michael Di Francesco (synths) and the yummy Tomek Archer (drums, pictured in the yellow shirt) first got together last year when they responded to an ad in Sydney's Drum Media Magazine. They share a love for '70s and '80s music, and bands like Devo, Daft Punk and The Mars Volta. They combine their eclectic taste in music with a fine taste of fashion, which will surely spark some gay innuendo.
A full-length debut album is expected in 2007.
