New York club singer Xavier will be releasing his debut single "Give Me The Night" in the U.K. on August 15. The track was produced by Scissor Sisters' Babydaddy and a Touch Of Class. The song is a very catchy italo-disco synth-pop cover of George Benson's classic anthem.
Xavier joined the Boys Choir of Harlem at a young age, singing alongside Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder on many occasions. While studying at Columbia University, he made some extra money performing at Crobar, Plaid and Luxx. In 2003, the Chinatown production duo Touch Of Class signed the artist which led to this first big release.
When I listen to the song I can most definitely hear Babydaddy's influence in the bridge ("So come on out tonight (...) Don't you know we can fly"). The production and Xavier's vocals almost make this sound like a Scissor Sisters tune. Also check out the single's B-side "Sunrise in Toyko."
