Brave New World

The Bravery's self-titled debut album is one of the most anticipated records of 2005. The stylish New York post punk-influenced dance rock band is already an indie kids favorite and is now on the verge of breaking out with the release of their CD on March 29.

In fact, some even predict that these brave souls might replace the Killers as rock's next big thing with their fierce eyeliners, gravity-defying haircuts and punchy '80s inspired tunes. No wonder the band is also gaining interest among gays. Look out for an interview with charismatic lead vocalist Sam Endicott in an upcoming issue of GENRE in which he shares make-up tips with the boys.

"The Bravery" is filled with poignant lyrics about love and loss. On "Unconditional," Endicott sings the memorable line "I spent my whole life surrounded, I spent my whole life alone." The single "An Honest Mistake" is by far the catchiest track on the album with its hooky chorus.

"No Brakes" has Endicott head over (w)heels in love and in a high-speed pursuit, "No brakes this time. I slit the line. It's out of my hands, over the wheel. My only chance, my only appeal. When I see red, red, red." He enjoys his love and wonders if it is too good to be true on "Fearless" when he sings, "Too many fingers, too many thumbs. Something wicked this way comes. The best time I've ever had. Waiting around for something bad."

The group has embarked on an extensive U.S. tour to promote the album.
