It's Gwen Loving Music, Baby!

Stefani at the VMA's in Miami

Interscope Records has finally accounced the release date of Gwen Stefani's much-anticipated solo disc. "Love Angel Music Baby" will hit stores worldwide in the week of November 22. The popular No Doubt singer has collaborated with a wide variety of songwriters and producers to make this one of the most interesting album releases of the year (on paper, at least).

She spent a few weeks in Atlanta to write with Outkast's Andre 3000 and Dallas Austin on a number of tracks. Stefani also collaborated with hip hop giants Dr Dre and The Neptunes to tune her sound. The list of contributors also features Linda Perry, long-time No Doubt producer Nellee Hooper and No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal who co-wrote the tracks 'Serious' and 'Crash

More noteworthy are Stefani's collaborations with New Order, Depeche Mode's Martin Gore and the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart. This might reveal a melodic sound inspired by moody '80s synth pop.

First single "What You Waiting For" will be released in early November.

You can already pre-order the CD from HMV Australia.

UPDATE (September 25): Scott features a link to an MP3 version of Gwen's new single.

The sound is decidedly Gwen, but I can hear hints of Blondie and Cyndi Lauper in this single. Very catchy.
