Hot New Talent Alert: Erik Hassle

What is it with the Swedes are their incredible knack for writing irresistible pop melodies? It must be something in their tap water that gives so many of them the ability to brew up one hit after the other. Check out the latest greatest Swede to hit the scene. He's name is Erik Hassle and his single "Hurtful" is about to blow up on YouTube. Great, care-free pop of the guilty pleasure kind.  (His mea culpa is poptastic, the video not so much. Watch it here.)

Alex Roots' brand of pop, new wave and rock is invigorating and totally fun. Check out the video for her sassy new single "Fake" that drops in British download stores on May 11. It is Pink meets Lene Lovich meets Cyndi Lauper -- a fortified blend of irresistible pop goodness. Stirred and shaken.

Roots' single is released during a month-long live residency at Cherry Jam in West London. Performances are scheduled for Wednesday April 8, April 15 and April 22. Produced by Ryan Laubscher, "Fake" is taken from Roots' debut LP that is set for release in June.

Hot New Talent Alert: Dan Black

Paris-based Londoner Dan Black is a very exciting new artist who you should have right smack on your hot new music radar. His new single "Alone" is best described as a fruity mix of Scritti Politi, Coldplay, Hot Chip and a whole lot of indie synth-pop goodness. The video is pretty unconventional as well with a very cool stop motion effect that shows off Black's adventurous sense of style. (Click here to pre-order  "Alone" that will be released next week.)

Hot New Talent Alert: Delphic

Arjanwrites_delphic

Delphic is a brand-new, crunchy electro trio consisting of Richard Boardman, Matthew Cocksedge and James Cook from Manchester, England. The three met last year and bonded over their passion for everything dance and electronic. The group likes to describe their music as a spontaneous brew of electronic music played by a live band.

"They make their music on laptops before figuring out how to play it live, throwing guitars, bass and drums over the electronics to result in their unique sound, then take to the stage and stitch their songs together into one continuous euphoric DJ set-like onslaught."

Watch the video for their debut single, "Counterpoint" after the jump, It's a propulsive, emo-filled electro stomper that incorporates elements reminiscent of British nu-ravers the Klaxons with the '80s sensibilities of New Order. The track was produced by Berlin based producer/remixer Ewan Pearson who is soon to start work in Berlin with the band on their debut album, due for release later this year. Delphic is currently touring with Bloc Party in Europe.

Hot New Talent Alert: Milke "Love Get Out Of My Way"

Arjanwrites_milke2

Here's a band you must hear now, right now, immediately, without a pause. Milke's "Love Get Out Of My Way" is just that deliciously good.  It's one of those rare red, hot buzz tracks that combines a cutting-edge production with infectious pop sensibilities without being cheesy or gimmicky. It reminds me a little bit of how Sam Sparro's "Black & Gold" hit the scene around the same time last year.

Milke is a band project between British electro/ breaks producer Andrew "Friendly" Kornweibel and singer/guitarist Ra. The two met after Andrew heard Ra singing on a track by Black Grass, five minutes of Google-ing later and they had exchanged emails and put CDs in the mail.

Both originally from Australia, Andrew and Ra are not new to scene. Andrew built a successful DJ and production career downunder, remixing records for Darren Hayes, INXS and Justice, while producing songs for people like Roxy Wilde. Ra grew up in a hippie commune near Canberra and started out singing as a teenager. He sung with acts as diverse as soul vocal groups, rock bands, house acts, chillout, and straight up pop.

Inspired by the French wave of Kitsune artists, Stuart Price, DFA, Eurythmics, The Cure, Talking Heads, Stevie Wonder and Prince, Milke is well on its way to build a reputation as one of 2009's finest new hitmakers.
