GRAMMYs 2009 Update: Carrie Underwood Shines
One of the artists who truly impressed me on Sunday was Carrie Underwood. She won multiple GRAMMYs, including one for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. She was the only major singer to skip the start of the Red Carpet to attend the pre-televised show. She graciously received her award and made a touching acceptance speech.
She also came up to the Media Room after her GRAMMY performance to speak with the press. Humble and thankful, she appeared in yet another dress (she wore three total that night) and explained that winning never gets old and that she still gets very nervous to perform on live television.
I think her performance of "Last Name" was on fire and she looked stunning, don't you think? (Photo via John Shearer/WireImage)

A Peek Inside Ne-Yo's Atlanta Studio
Just a few more shots from Ne-Yo's studio compound in Atlanta where I spent some time this weekend for Jadyn Maria's listening session.
The modern, loft-like space (with racing red floors) is decked out with lots of award statues and platinum records that Ne-Yo has picked up over the year. Forgive me for gushing, but it felt pretty special to be around all that success flashing on the walls. In fact, I was sitting next to one of singer's shiny GRAMMY Awards that he won in 2007. It may very well be another big GRAMMY night for Ne-Yo on February 8. The singer is up for 6 awards, including "Album Of The Year." More photos of the jump.
Free Download: Kenna "Out of Control (State of Emotion)" (RAC Remix)
The guys from Remix Artist Collective are on a roll. Check out a totally guilt-free MP3 download of Kenna's "Out Of Control" that they put together last year. They supercharged Kenna's version with a hot new jerky bassline and a bunch of bump 'n grind sound effects that make it a great club anthem.
RAC likes to call it "ghettotech." I just like to call it plain ole' good. Download the track after the jump.
Kenna is one of the most talented and most under-rated artist around. I had dinner with him before his gig in Atlanta in April of 2008 and I was captured by his passion and vision on music. But with Kenna it is never just about the music. It is about a movement to help the greater good. It's about a state of mind.
The singer received a well-deserved GRAMMY nomination in the Best Urban/Alternative category that also includes Janelle Monae and Chrisette Michele. That's some stiff competition. Very curious to see how that will play out on February 8.
