Free MP3 Download: Graffiti 6 "Annie You Save Me" (Dr Rosen Rosen Remix)
Producer and pop composer extraordinaire Dr Rosen Rosen turns up the disco drama and dancefloor glam on his fantastic remake of Graffiti 6's debut U.S. single "Annie You Save Me." Rosen Rosen skillfully enhances the original track with heavy strings and a punctuating groove, which complement Jamie Scott's raspy, soulful vocals oh-so perfectly. Fantastic work. Rosen Rosen always knows how to bring out the best in a song. After first emerging on the pop scene in the U.K. last year, look out for Graffiti 6's debut EP in the U.S. on Capitol/EMI later this month. (Download MP3)
Exclusive: Listen to Kay "M.A.J.O.R." (Tiesto Remix)
Rising Canadian pop star Kay has something big and important to celebrate this week. Today, she released her very first EP on iTunes in Canada that will finally introduce her sweet and crunchy pop goodness to more people. It's about time! And with gorgeous cover art like that it will be easy to fall head over heels in love with her. Kay's irresistible.
A little birdie told me that big things for Kay will be unleashed in the U.S. very soon as well so stay tuned to this blog for all the lastest greatest about Kay.
The "My Name Is Kay/M.A.J.O.R" EP includes the single edit of "My Name Is Kay" (written by Evan Bogart and Ryan Tedder of One Republic) plus the original version of "M.A.J.O.R" that was produced by our pal Dr Rosen Rosen. That track premiered right here on ArjanWrites.com back in November 2010.
The EP also features some excellent remixes including Frankmusik's Lost The Damn Gameboy Remix of "My Name Is Kay," plus remixes of "M.A.J.O.R" by Gunslinger, Junior Sanchez and Tiesto.
Check out Tiesto's remix of the song in the player below. The Dutch soundboard maestro turns Kay's poppin' original into a hard-pulsing dancefloor stomper with a trancy touch that hits nicely around the 3:35 minute mark after a frentic build. It's a nice way for Tiesto to return the favor after Kay contributed vocals to his "Work Hard, Play Hard" single last year. (Download EP)
Listen to Britney Spears "Till The World Ends" (Dr Rosen Rosen remix)
It has been years since I last blogged about Britney Spears. But today is a special day that warrents a Britney post on this sweet & crunchy blog. Not only did the pop icon drop her new album today (which is a solid production effort), our pal Dr Rosen Rosen put together a remix of Spears' new single "Till The World Ends" that he is sharing with the world today.
Staying true to form, Rosen Rosen completely revamps the original to give it an atmospheric, almost orchestral make-over in which calm meets chaos. He strips out some of the soundboard effects to intensify the bittersweet and frenzied qualities of the song.
Through Rosen Rosen's remix, I can sense a feeling of solitude and vulnerability in Britney's delivery that may be a pretty good reflection of how she is really coping with the turmoil in her life. Anyone who can expose that emotion so clearly gets two big thumbs up in my book. Another extraordinairy effort by Dr Rosen Rosen. Download the MP3 of the remix of Dr Dr Rosen Rosen web site.
Listen to M.I.A. "Internet Connection" (Dr Rosen Rosen Remix)
Remixer and producer extraordinaire Dr Rosen Rosen takes on M.I.A's "Internet Connection," a bonus track from her most recent album. Rosen Rosen sliced up the original tune, removed M.I.A's signature gritty production stylings, and replaced it with a playful and dancefloor-savvy pop vibe. Just what the doctor ordered to bring some new life to the album that was quickly written off - and for good reason.
I'm totally digging the instrumental breakdown that kicks in around the 2:10 minute mark that demonstrates Rosen Rosen's incredible knack for matching sound, melody and rhythm. He is by far one of the biggest new production talents out there right now.
Listen to Natalia Kills "Mirrors" (Doctor Rosen Rosen Rx)
Natalia Kills pops on the scene with a laser-sharp point of view and a sound that is primed for the global pop charts. Today, she released a remix EP on iTunes that features four peppy revamps of her new single "Mirrors."
My favorite of the bunch is Doctor Rosen Rosen's throbbing make-over of Natalia's original. The savvy soundboard wizard turns the massively infectious pop groove into a blistering, hurricane-sized dancefloor epic that will have you dizzy on your feet the moment it hits.
If you like what Doctor Rosen Rosen serves up as a remixer, you must check out "Major," a fantastic pop jam that he produced and co-wrote with emerging pop phenom Kay. (And on a related note, if you missed my video interview with Natalia Kills earlier, make sure to watch it here. Super fun.)
