Cherry Cherry Boom Boom makes us want to "get up" with his hot and happening remix of Afrojack's fantastic new single "The Spark" that features our Atlanta pal Spree Wilson. Cherry Cherry Boom Boom (aka Cherrytree Records chief and music man extraordinaire Martin Kierszenbaum) strips out the splashy elements that mark the original, and gives the Wilson-penned track a sleek and stark makeover.

Kierszenbaum's reinterpretation has a vibey and distinct nocturnal feel that fits the original vocal track perfectly. Particularly compelling is how Kierszenbaum layers Spree's happy-go-lucky rap rhymes over a deliciously bubbly bassline.

Like I wrote previously, "The Spark" comes hot on the heels of Afrojack's It's a Matter Of EP that was released as a tastemaker for the Dutch soundboard jock's forthcoming album. It's a feel-good, pop-savvy tune with a universal message about believing in yourself no matter what your circumstances are." Ever think when it all goes right/You got things that can change your life/Crashing through the stars at night/I'm telling everybody/We all got the spark," self-proclaimed "midnight rambler" Spree Wilson sings.

Spree Wilson wrote me that he penned "The Spark" years ago. When he heard Afrojack was looking for new material, he reached out to the superstar DJ and offered to work with him. The rest is now history. Make sure to check out the video for "The Spark" the premiered last week that features both Afrojack and Spree Wilson.
