Dido Shares New Album Details, Listen to 'No Freedom' (J Viewz Remix)
It has been hot long minute since we last heard from Dido, but following the release of "Safe Trip Home" in 2008, the songstress is getting ready to return to the scene with a brand-new album on March 26. The much-anticipated new LP, titled "Girl Who Got Away," features her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar (the track "Let Us Move On" that she shared earlier) and her new single "No Freedom" that will be available for download on February 19.
Working once again with her brother Rollo Armstrong (Faithless), who produced the majority of the album, Dido collaborated with a very impressive group of (GRAMMY-winning) hit makers including the Brian Eno, Jeff Bhasker, Rick Nowels and Greg Kurstin to create an album of "finely, self-penned songs and soul-baring pop with electro, folk, hip hop, ambient and dance infusions," according to a press statement.
Dido is one of the world's best-selling female recording artists of all time with over 29 millions album sold to date. The singer explains that she's excited about sharing the new album with fans. "It was an incredibly fun record to make. There was no pressure on me at all," she explains. "It’s all been so natural and easy. On every other record I’ve made, there have been really tricky days, but there weren’t any like that on this one."
A press release describes "Girl Who Got Away" as a "captivating collection of well-crafted songs and stunning production: from the euphoric 'Go Dreaming,' to the barbed wit of 'End of Night,' the folky 'Sitting On The Roof Of The World' to the dance-y-yet-dark 'Blackbird.'"
The album's title track is one of Dido's favorites on the album. "I guess it sums up the last few years for me," she says. "Taking a step back from it all and going off to have the whole happy adventure of starting a family and making an album that I really am so proud of. And now I just can't wait for people to hear it."Listen to the very lush and lovely J Viewz remix of Dido's "No Freedom" below and listen to the radio edit of the single here.
