Keane's Tom Chaplin doesn't often venture out on his own, but he made an exception for "Same Heart," a duet he recorded with up and coming Dutch songstress Laura Jansen. The two teamed up together to record "Same Heart" for the Serious Request charity campaign that is organized by Holland's 3FM pop radio station. Every year, 3FM partners with the International Red Cross to rally listeners around a cause and collect funds during the holiday season. This year's Special Request focuses on the fight against infant mortality.

3FM program director Wilbert Mutsaers invited Laura Jansen to write a song for this year's Serious Request campaign. Jansen set out to write "Same Heart," an inspirational tune with earthy, pop-folk undertones that is filled positivity. "Underneath it all/Beats the same heart/It's the same heart," she sings in the hook-laden chorus. "I wanted to write a song that communicates the theme [of Serious Request] and has people sit up and listen," she says in a statement. Jansen wrote the song as a duet and was eager to work with Chaplin.

Tom Chaplin, one of pop's most brilliant vocalists, was instantly captured by the song's angelic melody and powerful message, and decided to record it together with Jansen. "It's the very first time that I record using my own name [not as a part of Keane]," he explains. "The song really touched me on a personal level. It's wonderful to hear a song that bares so much soul. The track is so inspired and it was very obvious to me how it relates to the theme of the Serious Request campaign." All proceeds of the sales of the song will benefit the Red Cross. The track is currently available for download in Holland only.
