Listen to 2AM Club 'Mary' featuring Big Sean and Dev [Review]

It's been a hot minute since we last heard from 2AM Club after the group released a bunch of freebies late last year, including "Every Evening" and "Reach Down Deep." Those tracks were the result of their early writing and recording sessions back in Los Angeles were they diligently worked on new album material for months. Late last night, 2AM Club's fantastic new "Mary" track was hurled into the ether that gives us a few more clues about how their sound has developed over the last year. The radio-ready tune is a collaboration with rapper Big Sean and pop singer Dev, the queen of features.

To the uninitiated, 2AM Club is the teaming of Marc (vocals), Tyler (rap/vocals), Matt (guitar), Sauce (bass), Dave (drums) and Ian (keys) who released their debut album "What Did You Think Was Going To Happen" on RCA/Jive in 2010. One of the essential ingredients of 2AM Club's hooky pop sound is the performance chemistry between Marc and Tyler who seamlessly alternate rap bits with slick vocal hooks that give 2AM Club's hit-loaded brand of pop just the right amount of spit and polish.

There sure is something (or better: a lot) about "Mary." Judging from its care-free, reggae-infused pop vibe, it sounds like 2AM Club's time away in the studio has paid off in a very big way. "Mary" is a massive radio hit about to happen with its fun, quirky and feel good qualities that shows that 2AM Club is perfectly in tune with what's hot and happening in pop right now, while also strengthening their identity as a group. Big Sean and Dev add their own distinct swagger to the song that helps boost its enormous hit potential even further. Five out of five stars.
