Lawson Premieres Video for New Single 'Taking Over Me' [Video Review]

Hot on the heels of the success of "When She Was Mine" in the U.K. pop charts, Lawson continues their momentum and premiered the video for their very sunny new single, entitled "Taking Over Me," last Friday. The song is another slice of tightly-produced, upbeat and mightily infectious pop rock that will have you tapping along the moment it hits. Guaranteed.

Lawson is the teaming of frontman Andy Brown (vox/guitar), Joel Peat (lead guitar), Adam Pitts (drums) and Ryan Fletcher (bass). Respectively from Liverpool, Mansfield, Brighton and Chesterfield, the group of backpackers was established when Adam reached out to Andy after seeing his acoustic covers on YouTube. The two met up, and invited pals Ryan and Joel to join as well that led to frequent jamming sessions in a shabby rehearsal room under railway arches in Shepherds Bush in West London.

The foursome started making a name for themselves when they were a special guest on The Wanted's most recent U.K. arena tour that got them noticed by many more new fans. They also were a special guest on Westlife's very last show in Dublin earlier this year. Now signed to Polydor Records, the four spent more time out in Los Angeles in recent months soaking up the Cali sun and writing song for their forthcoming debut LP with none other than GRAMMY winning producer John Shanks.

Lawson's vibrant California attitude is clearly expressed in their music, including this anthemic new "Taking Over Me." It is a tale about falling head over heels in love, grabbing life by the horns and driving out into the big wide open for the adventure of a lifetime. "I can stop the world with just your kiss," Andy Brown sings, before breaking out with the rest of the group into that very hooky "woohoohooo. The group fittingly filmed the video for "Taking Over Me" out in the California desert east of Los Angeles to give it that All-American spirit of running free and running wild that perfectly accentuates the meaning of the song. (Lawson "Taking Over Me" will be released on August 5.)
