Hot New Talent Alert: Listen to Gallant 'Norway'
You may remember that I first alerted you about hot new talent Gallant back in the summer of least year when I posted "Party Girl," a stomping pop forward tune that was produced by none other than Madonna pal William Orbit in collaboration with DJ Teenwolf.
Since the release of "Party Girl," the 20 year old New York singer/songwriter has continued to write and record new material to further fine-tune his sound and carve out a unique niche of his own on the ever-evolving pop spectrum. One of the first (and very good) new tracks he's sharing from his recording sessions is the touching "Norway" that he recorded acoustically and posted to YouTube this week.
He writes me in an email that the track was inspired by a very personal experience that he conveys in such a way that it's easy for people everywhere to relate to. "I wrote it about a dilemma that we're faced with when romantic opportunity knocks on our door," Gallant explains. "Do we take off forever or stay on the ground?"
Gallant wraps that emotionally-honest sentiment into a beautifully poignant arrangement in this acoustic version of the song that showcases his soulful, inspired vocal delivery. He flawlessly belts out a falsetto while exercising great vocal control to give meaning to every word of the song. Staying true to the brave and courtly qualities of his name, Gallant's "Norway" is another very memorable new tune by a very promising pop newcomer that you should make sure to keep your eyes on in the months to come.
