Diamond Rings Unveils Album Release Date, Tour Dates and New Video Teaser
Diamond Rings sure knows how to stir up the momentum for his forthcoming new album, entitled "Free Dimensional," that is introduced by a set of mysterious video teasers that will have fans excited for more. In an exclusive video posted here on ArjanWrites.com, we see the tall Toronto electro-pop artist climbing up a hill and showing what he is truly made of in a surprising moment at the end of the short clip.
But there's a whole lot more new Diamond Rings news to share today. Not only did he reveal the album title, he also unveiled the LP's release date (October 23) and a full North American tour that will kick off in September. That tour will be preceded by showcase performances in Los Angeles, New York and Seattle next month. The first single from the album, "I'm Just Me" as well as the video are out now. The track was remixed by French electro-pop sensation Yelle and recently premiered on RollingStone.com. The track is available as a free download here.
An Astralwerks press release provides us with a few more clues about "Free Dimensional." "[The album] retains the melodicism, clever juxtapositions, and lyrical honesty that garnered kudos for 'Special Affections.' What's different this time around is how the songs were conceived and produced. 'I wanted the first album to have that homespun quality,' John O explains. Back then, he was wary of too many high-tech bells and whistles. "A big part of being afraid of something is not understanding it,' he admits. 'Once I became more comfortable with the medium of electronic music, it was only natural to want to improve."
