Angel Unveils Video for 'Wonderful,' Jams with Ed Sheeran and Michael Kiwanuka
Promising British soul-pop newcomer Angel (born Sirah Charles) bursts back onto the pop scene with his excellent new single, "Wonderful," that is the follow up this debut single "Go In Go Hard" featuring Wretch 32 that was released back in March. "Wonderful" is an anthemic slice of pop-oriented, futuristic R&B featuring flaming guitars, rousing synths and Angel's powerful vocals. The track is taken from Angel's debut LP that is due early next year, and will include a track written for him by Frank Ocean.
With fans ranging from Michael Kiwanuka to Cheryl Cole, Angel is hailed as one of Britain's most pormising new urban pop acts. His most impressive accomplishment to date was the inclusion of "Go In Go Hard" as the title track of British film hit Streetdance 2. He recently also supported Dappy on his U.K. sell out tour and selling out his own headline show.
At only 24 years old and hailing from Shepherds Bush, Londoner Angel is a singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose music is "a wonderful fusion of UK urban sound with the smooth finesse of mid-90's R&B," simultaneously modern but with a nod to those who have influenced him (from Prince and Michael Jackson though to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis). Before recording his own music, he has written hits for people like Pixie Lott, Jason Derulo and many others.
Angel has been a firm favourite on the underground scene for quite some time now jamming and recording with peers like Ed Sheeran and Michael Kiwanuka. In fact, the three met up recently for SB.TV to perform an acoustic version of "Angel" out in the London summer sun. Check out the brand-new video for Angel "Wonderful" below and make sure to grab the single when it gets released in the U.K. on August 13. (And on a related Angel note, make sure to watch his cover of Cheryl Cole's "Call My Name" right here that neatly showcases his brilliant soul-pop vocals.)
