[FREE MP3] Listen to New Nina Sky "Heartbeat"
It's been a hot minute since we last heard from Nina Sky, but this week the spunky New York pop duo returns with the blazing new and mightily good "Heartbeat." The song is the second track taken from their forthcoming new LP, "Nicole & Natalie," that will be released in a digital download store near you on July 31.
To the unitiated, Nina Sky is the teaming of twins Natalie and Nicole Albino who came up with the name Nina Sky by using the first two syllables of their names and combined that with "Sky," which represents "the sky is the limit" for them. That sure is the case for the genre-mashing qualities of their music that neatly balances on the junction of dance, pop, soul and hip hop. They first emerged on the scene with the Carribean-flavored "Move Ya Body" that hit #17 on the Billboard 100 chart back in 2004.
In recent years, the group collaborated with hitmakers like Bruno Mars, The Stereotypes, Salaam Remi and Ryan Leslie, plus they were featured on Major Lazer's "Gun's Don't Kill People, Lazers Do." They have also continued to play shows across New York City, including an opening gig for Bruno Mars' very first New York performance at the Bowery Ballroom back in 2010 (which was an amazing show).
Set to euphoric, Balearic-styled synth chords and a kinetic, pulsing beat, "Heartbeat" is a soaring dance tune that immediately stands out from the pack of summer stompers with the twins' authentically soulful vocals. This tune has hit, hit, hit written all over it and it sure is a proper tastemaker for their much-anticipated LP that follows the release of this single late next month. Grab the MP3 totally guilt-free.
