Listen to Alex Clare "Too Close" from New Internet Explorer TV Commercial
If you have tuned in to some of your favorite hit TV shows in recent weeks, chances are you that you have caught on to the incredible "Too Close" by Alex Clare that is featured in a new Microsoft TV spot. After first gaining critical acclaim with the track last summer, "Too Close" is now introduced to a massive global audience in this new Microsoft campaign that promotes the blazing new Internet Explorer 9.
Born and bred in southeast London, Clare's unorthodox musical style reflects the bebop, blues, electronic and U.K. garage influences of his youth. Whether he's performing live or recording, Clare works to bring together heartfelt lyrics and melodic lines with aggressive bass and percussion to let the full emotional impact of the song come through.
"Too Close" perfectly encapsulates Clare's unorthodox sonic point of view. It's a richly imaginative brew of powerful singer/songwriter pop combined with Clare's raspy, soulful vocals and a dubstep-inspired groove that gets under your skin - in a good way, whether you want it or not.
Film director Keith Rivers explains that the emotional intensity of Clare's song compelled him to select the song for the Internet Explorer TV spot, which was to focus on making an emotional connection with the viewer. "What makes Alex Clare’s song so complementary to the advertisement is that it’s filled with uplifting energy and vocals that speak to what Internet Explorer stands for, a humble force powering your Web experience," Rivers says in a press release.
