[REMIX] Foster The People "Don't Stop" (Kat Krazy Remix)
I have no doubt that Kat Krazy will be rooting for Foster The People to pick up a few GRAMMYs on Sunday. The British remixer/producer is a huge fan of the group and jumped at the change when Columbia Records asked him to remix the trio's new single, "Don't Stop." "I'm a huge fan of the original," he writes me this morning. "I love how Foster the People achieve a timeless effect with their incredibly individual sound"
He adds, "I was also very keen on the GRAMMY-nominated 'Pumped Up Kicks,' so it's a privilege to be working on another of their singles." Foster The People is up for GRAMMY gold in the Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Alternative Music Album categories this Sunday.
After remixing tracks for Far East Movement, Robyn, Natalia Kills, Pixie Lott and many others, Kat Krazy once again shows that he has a knack for revamping a song and upping its dancefloor intensity while staying true to the sentiment that marks the original. No long instrumental breaks, complete reflips or outdated dubstep grooves. Nothing of that. Kat Krazy takes the best of the original and amplifies it for the dancefloor.
Kat Krazy explains, "The inspiration for the ['Don't Stop'] remix came from a load of places. I have tried to go for a quite a dated vibe on the mix, going for old-school, theremin-style sounds to fit with the feel of the '60s-esque vocals. I wanted it to go off in the drop, so went for a driving electro and distorted bass to sit alongside the catchy hook of the song." Mission accomplished. Very nicely done. Highly recommended.
