[NEW] Listen to Rita Ora "Somebody That I Used To Know" (Gotye Cover)

Rita-ora

You may remember that I first introduced you to Rita Ora when I wrote about her collaboration with DJ Fresh on the drum 'n bass stomper "Hot Right Now" last year. But there's a lot more Rita Ora popping up, including a sultry and very soulful cover of Gotye's chart sensation "Somebody That I Used To Know" that Ora recently performed on BBC Radio One's Live Lounge.

So exactly who is this promising British talent who is slowly but surely started to make waves on the pop scene? Combining the spunk of Jessie J with the sex appeal of Rihanna, Ora is a big star in the making who's inspired by artists ranging from Celine Dion to Bruce Springsteen. But there's one artist in particular who influences her. "I'm a massive fan of Gwen Stefani," she says in an interview with SBTV. "I'd love to get a duet with Gwen. That's my goal. I think she's so cool. I'm really influenced by her. Her red lipstick. Her blond hair."

Born in Albania and raised in West London, Ora was signed to a recording contract when she was 18 year old and has been working on her debut LP for the past three years. With the success of "Hot Right Now," it seems that her project has finally caught fire and 2012 will be her much-anticipated break out year. It's rumored that the album will include production work by Stargate, The Invisible Men and supposedly writing work by Bonnie McKee who penned Rita Ora's first single "Party & Bullsh*t."

"People should look forward to some great music and positive messages," Ora smiles. "Everything I talk about are things that happened to me or I would like to happen to me ( . . . ) So much went into this record, I can't wait for everyone else to hear it."

In the interview with SBTV, Ora also talks extensively about her relationship with Beyonce and Jay Z who signed her to RocNation. "Hanging out with Bey and Jay is just normal," she says. "It's just like hanging out with your friends. But remember that Jay is also my boss. So whether we are talking business or personal things, it always helps the project which [Jay Z] is very involved with."

The singer (and sometimes model/actress) likes to describe her music as "eclectic." "It is a whole lot of different things in one," she laughs. "I've worked on this record for so long, I can't wait for people to hear it." Until then, make sure to check out Ora's cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" that shows off her unique timbre and infectious pop sensibilities.
