[NEW] Listen to New My Name Is Kay Track "Strangers" (featuring Pusha T)

Kay-omg-kay-450

Superfly and dopelicious, My Name Is Kay is stirring up a storm in her home country of Canada after finishing up her stint on the Cherrytree Pop Alternative Tour in Vancouver earlier this month. She's currently a special guest on Hedley's extensive Canadian tour, which is taking our favorite new pop lady to cities large and small north of the border.

To celebrate the tour and give fans a taste of all the mighty new pop goodness she's about to unleash onto the masses, Kay released a brand-new EP in the Canada this week that includes (yes, finally!) two brand-new songs. Also included on the release are the Doctor Rosen Rosen-produced "M.A.J.O.R," "My Name Is Kay" and "Going Diamond" that features rap legend Kurtis Blow and was produced my Martin "Cherry Cherry Boom Boom" Kierszenbaum.

The EP is not available internationally (yet) but lucky for us, she uploaded the newly unveiled tracks to SoundCloud for the entire world to enjoy. The EP's new songs are the groovy pop joint "Diddy Dum" and the hit-loaded "Strangers" that features the lyrical spunk of rapper Pusha T. Both tracks were produced by hit makers Ryan Tedder and Evan Bogart, and were written by Ryan Tedder, Evan Bogart and Kay.

If you're in Canada, do yourself a big favor and pick up Kay's EP from an iTunes store near. New pop needs to be supported and Kay deserves all the love you can give.

[NEW] Listen to Rita Ora U.K. Debut Single "R.I.P." feat. Tinie Tempah [Single Review]

Rita-ora-rip-single

After smashing the U.K. pop charts with "Hot Right Now" together with DJ Fresh, Rita Ora prepares to further build out her momentum with her official debut single "R.I.P." that features none other than British superstar rapper Tinie Tempah. But there's a lot more star power involved with this track. "R.I.P." was written by Drake and produced by dubstep lords Chase & Status and Norwegian pop powerhouse duo Stargate.

"R.I.P." is a massive tune that firmly positions Ora as a mighty new force in pop to reckon with who is without a doubt a superstar in the making. Paced by soaring synth chords and an anthemic groove , "R.I.P." is a powerhouse production that has smash hit written all over it. It's an infectious blend of club-sized beats and hit-savvy pop sensibilities that is peppered with rock-edged, flaming guitars to accentuate its gritty undertones.

Tempah introduces Ora on the track's opening verse with some of his witty word play, "Sexy senorita, I feel your aura (. . .) I'm Tinie T, so let me give you some tongue 'n cheek." Ora builds on Tempah's energy and responds, "I'm ready for you," while confidently delivering a tale about love and letting go so she can move on with her life. "The hurtings are over," she wants listeners to know.

It's very exciting to finally see Rita make her entry to the scene with such force and power. The 21 year-old British/Albanian singer has been working towards this moment for three long years and it's really starting to take off in a big way now on both sides of the Atlantic. She was in New York City just last week for radio interviews alongside mentor Jay-Z. Look out for Rita's U.S. release on Columbia Records later this year. "R.I.P." will be available in the U.K. on May 6.

[NEW] Listen to New A*M*E Track "Ride Or Die" (Produced by MNEK)

After blasting onto the U.K. scene with the mighty infectious "City Lights," A*M*E now serves up another pop sensation of the finest kind with "Ride Or Die." Produced by MNEK, the track is a totally fun and playful pop banger that is filled with A*M*E's take it or leave it girl power attitude that is fresh and exciting.

The unorthodox pop tune innovatively synthesizes elements of spunky dancehall and heartfelt soul pop with a minimal, electro-rave production that gives it a steady zing. On "Ride Or Die," A*M*E takes charge and lays down some new rules. "See you gottta be gentle with my heart 'cuz I know I'm just but I can fall apart," she sings in the bridge leading up to the spiky chorus. "So you wanna be with me boy, you gotta bring something else to the table, now tell me are you able."

A*M*E  has a very clear point of view about the type of pop she wants to share. She tells ID Magazine, "I'm doing something different to the stereotypical black, teenage, urban thing, so I hope people appreciate that. It’s fun pop music, nothing too heavy, tragic, sad or anything like that. Something people can relate to. I’m bringing it back 90s style."

Like I wrote before, A*M*E's love for pop runs deep. She was born and raised in Sierra Leone, the war-torn nation in Africa where she lived until the age of 8. It was the timeless pop of groups like Backstreet Boys and *NSync that helped her cope with her dire environment and was the one thing that she could always rely on. She now takes those classic pop sensibilities and applies it in her own unique way. A*M*E is a hot new talent to watch.
