Kay Releases Debut EP "My Name Is Kay" in the U.S. (EP Review)

Santa came a few days early this holiday season. And his biggest Christmas gift this year is Kay's debut EP that all of a sudden popped up out of nowhere on iTunes this week which is as good as finding that gift you've wanted for months and months right under the Christmas tree.

With her much buzzed about appearance on the Cherrytree Pop Alternative Tour in Canada, pop fans everywhere are starting to catch on to Kay who is perfectly positioned for break out success in 2012. She's talented, ambitious, and serves up a unique style and sound that make her stand out from the evolving pop pack. Frequent readers of this blog know that I've made no secret of the fact that I'm a huge believer in Kay and what she's capable of.

Originally signed by OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder to Interscope Records, Kay's has been working with pop's finest to deliver a fresh new sound that reflects her wide variety of musical interests and inspirations, ranging from dance to pop to old-school hip hop. Kay has also teamed with people like Tiesto and Steve Aoki which has helped to create more awareness about her in the dance community beyond her pop music base.

Particularly exciting is the inclusion of "M.A.J.O.R." on the EP that I first alerted you about late last year. Produced by Dr Rosen Rosen, it is mega fun track that shows off her spunky pop site. Also featured on the EP is her funky coming out anthem "My Name Is Kay" that was co-written by Evan "Kidd" Bogart and Ryan Tedder, and packs nothing but postive energy and plenty of girl power.

Martin "Cherry Cherry Boom Boom" Kierszenbaum worked with Kay on "Going Diamond" that is a very special track that features none other than legendary rap icon Kurtis Blow who gives the song a feel-good, throw back hip hop vibe that is a vital part of Kay's brand of pop.

Make sure to support new pop, and gift yourself and your friends this brand-new EP for the holidays. Note that it's listed as "My Name is Kay" by My Name is Kay who really is our fave and one and only Kay. Grab it on iTunes or Rdio.
