[NEWS] Imogen Heap to Release New 3D Single "Heap Song 2" on July 6
British electro-pop artist Imogen Heap continues to push the envelop with the forthcoming release of her new single, titled "Heap Song 2," which "will be the first ever 3D audio song," according to a press release. "Heap Song 2" is the second single from her forthcoming new album that follows "Lifeline" that was released earlier this year.
On "Lifeline," Heap worked with fans to gather imagery, words and videos to create a rich media experience to go along with the song. Imogen plans to take it a few steps further for "Heap Song 2." She has partnered with Nick Ryan, an award-winning audio specialist, "to push the limits of sound and song to a new place."
The press release further explains that Ryan and Heap will explore the idea of "using sound to enhance the experience and narrative of a song alongside 'conventional' words and music." Ryan will be regularly meeting up with Imogen at her studio out in the English countryside. "There he'll find and create sounds, atmospheres and acoustic spaces that depict the inspiration for her 'moment of clarity', later to be incorporated into the recording of the music."
Heap and Ryan will also create a "clarity cloud" on her web site where people can contribute sounds, ideas, videos and photos that will all be incorporated in the final song and video. Fans can also take part in Ryan's sound editing and sampling sessions via Twitter to be part of the creation that leads to the final song. Stay tuned for more details on her web site.
